Good morning with a word for the day-
David was a man after God's own heart. He was a great leader of his time and faced many of the challenges that we face today.
In Psalm 141:1-10, David is giving great Godly advice in the form of a prayer. In verse 3, he says, “Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth.” So many times in the heat of trouble we try our best to defend our stance, when what we need to be doing is making sure our stance pleases God. Then he goes on to say, “Do not incline my heart to any evil thing.” David was asking the Lord to keep him from evil, as evil leads to more evil. It is a very hard thing to do. In our relationships, it means to let things go and overlook those who hurt you and speak against you. David knew returning evil for evil would not solve his problems, but instead get him in trouble with God.
David also prayed, “Do not let me eat of their delicacies.” He was not talking about food, but instead the evil that seems to be sweet to the wicked. Many times we are tempted to get caught up in ungodly temptations this life has to offer instead of relying on God to keep us far away from them. There are many things we are to be involved in, but not the battles of life. Those battles belong to the Lord. Our greatest battle is to stay right with God in all of our ways. In order to live a battle free life, one must spend much time in two things: God’s Word, and prayer.
To be deep in those two things is to live a battle free life.
