Good morning with a word for the day-
In John 5:14, Jesus says to the man healed after 38 years, “See you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come up on you.”
Jesus did not claim responsibility for the man's health, after being healed. He placed responsibility on the man- the one who had been given such a great gift.
Another instance, in Jeremiah 27:1-8, we read that God had given a great gift to the nation of Israel (countries, livestock, wealth, etc). But, again, He did not hold the responsibility of keeping what He had given them. It was their responsibility. They stopped serving God, and reverencing God, and started serving idols, so He raised up unrighteous leaders to take away what they received. What they had been given were gifts, holy and honorable unto God.
In every area of God's blessings, we are held accountable. He are also held responsible for all that we have so graciously been given. From our leadership positions, to our spiritual gifts, and our wisdom. Yes, even earthly things, such as our homes, jobs, and the money we receive from those jobs. His blessings include our marriage, and, yes, our children. And of course, our salvation! After finding favor in God’s eyes, it's a dangerous thing to squander it away.
The children of Israel found out what would happen by not honoring God with what they had been given: They were placed under the rule of evil King Nebuchadnezzar.
Today, we see those who say they have salvation by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that are falling apart. We see families falling apart, homes that are falling apart, marriages falling apart, children who are falling apart, and yes, nations are falling apart, and can be found under the rule of evil “kings.”
It's time to return from where we have fallen.
1. We must know that God hasn't gone anywhere, nor has His power to deliver been diminished
2. We must repent any back turning we have done, and return to a loving God. God hasn’t gone anywhere, but neither have His requirements.
