Good morning with a word for the day-
In John 5:14, Jesus says to the man healed after 38 years, "See you have been made whole. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you."
Jesus never kept the responsibility of the man's healing to Himself. He placed it upon the one who had received such a great gift. In Jeremiah 27:1-8 we read that God had given a great gift to the nation of Israel, but He never kept the responsibility of keeping what had been given to Himself. In fact, God raised up unrighteous leaders to take away what they had received because they had failed to keep what had been given holy and honorable unto God. In every area of God's blessings we are held accountable of the outcome. From our leadership positions, our spiritual gifts, our peace, and yes even the earthly things we have been given. Things like our homes, jobs, and the money we receive from those jobs, our marriage, and yes even our children. God holds us not only responsible but accountable for what we have been so graciously given. And yes, even our salvation.
After I have found favor in God's eyes, it's a dangerous thing to squander it away. The children of Israel found out what would happen to those who did not honor God with what they had been given. They were placed under the rule of an evil king. Today, families are falling apart, homes are falling apart, marriages are falling apart, our children are falling apart, and yes our nation is under the rule of an evil king. Today, we see those who say they have salvation by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ falling apart.
First, we must know that God has not gone anywhere, nor has His power to deliver been diminished. Romans 10:9-10 tells us that He will and can still save those who call upon His name. Second, II Chronicles 7:14 still means what it says. If we repent of our wicked ways, God still can heal our nation. But God will not be held responsible for the outcome of what we have been given
When much is given, much is required.
