Word for the Day

Good morning with a word for the day-
We all can look around and say within our hearts that times are close to the end.
l Peter 4:7-11 gives us a encouraging word for times such as these. Peter says be serious and watchful in your prayers.
Notice he did not say pray more, longer, or with more elegant words. He said be serious about your praying. To be serious is to pay attention about what you're praying for. To pay attention means to pray wisely. Pray for souls to be won to the kingdom of God. Pray for your family, coworkers, and friends. Those who are close to you and your life instead of things.  At the end of the day we are going to find out that things do not matter as much as souls.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:31 "do not worry about what you shall eat or drink." Too many times we pray about things that our heavenly Father has already made provisions for instead of things that are slipping away. Things are renewable, souls are not. Things come and go, but a soul comes and when it leaves, it will never be again.
Peter said be serious and watchful in your prayers. Pray that God will use you in the winning of souls. The Bible says wise is a man that winneth souls. Soul winning is a by-product of a soul won.  One of the greatest indicators that one has been truly saved is that person becomes a reproducer of who and what they are and have received.
More and more today we see people coming to Christ because they need something instead of to receive something. I need a job, I am sick, or even I am having marriage problems. Is God concerned about those things? The answer is yes. But if God granted all of those requests and the soul was lost forever, what gain would there be? Jesus said "what would a man give for his soul."
My pastor taught us to keep the main thing the main thing. Stop praying for all the things that God can fix, and start praying for the very thing that Christ came and died for: a soul to be forgiven of their sins and win to the kingdom of God.
