Good morning with a word for the day-
Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel.”
Have you ever asked yourself what is the gospel? Most would say that it is the message of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is true. But the gospel to me is even deeper than that. To me, it is the will of God. God’s will is that none should perish (2 Peter 3:9). God’s will is to know the plan for one's life (Jeremiah 29:11). God’s will is for one to live a Holy life, for He is Holy (1 Peter 1:16). God’s will is for one to be filled with the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38). God's will is for one to use their spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:1). God's will is for one to live trouble and worry-free (John 14:1-3). God’s will is for one to have boldness and approach the throne of God in prayer (Hebrews 10:19).
It’s even deeper than those few things I mentioned. When I open my heart to the depths of the gospel, then the gospel can grow and live its life through me. As I said before in Romans 1:16, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.” In the same passage, Paul tells us the very depth of the gospel. He says, “For it is the power of God to salvation to everyone who believes.” I would interchange the word “power” with “the will of God.” For it is also the will of God to live out the power of God in the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul said I am what I am because of the grace (obtained through the gospel) of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:10).
Is the gospel about the Lord Jesus Christ? Of course, but even deeper than that, it's Christ Jesus living the gospel through me. I will never be closer to God, than when I am living the gospel each and every day of my life.
