Word for the Day

Good morning with a word for the day-
Job 1:9, “So Satan answered the LORD and said, ‘Does Job fear God for nothing?’”
This is one of the most amazing verses in the book of Job to me. It answers the question- what does Godly character look like? The answer is the fear of God. We don't hear too much about the fear of God, we mostly hear about the love, mercy, and grace of God. There is very little mentioned about the fear of God. Job feared God to the point that it drew God's attention. Remember in verse 8, God is the one who said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job?” The reply from Satan is asking, “Does Job fear God for nothing?” The answer is no. Job feared God because He is the almighty God. Job knew that to be the purpose of life- the fear of God. Another word we don't hear too much about is the peace of God. Oh, we hear it mentioned in the middle, or at the end of a sermon, but not in-depth. Most today have no concept of the peace of God. Most preaching today is spent just trying to reassure and hold together a body of Christ that is falling apart. The reason why is because you cannot have peace with God if you have no fear of God. Many today have no peace because they have no fear. Job's Godly character answered Satan’s every attack with the peace of God “that surpasses all understanding,” Philippians 4:6. In Job 1:21 Job said, “The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD.” His answer could only come from a deep trust in God, and a healthy peace with God. And neither came without a heartfelt fear of God.
This is called Godly character.
Job 1:6-9
