Good morning with a word for the day -
1 Corinthians 15:10 says, “And His grace toward me was not in vain.”
1 Corinthians 15:10 says, “And His grace toward me was not in vain.”
I think this is one of the most sobering statements in scripture. Paul was keenly aware of the grace God had extended to him. He was not only aware of the grace, but it was always in the forefront of his thoughts. Time and time again, throughout the New Testament, the apostle Paul mentioned the grace he received from God. It contrasts with today’s society, where the grace of God is taken as an entitlement, and not as a gift that we are not worthy to receive. In scripture, it seems the apostle Paul never forgot who he was before he received Christ. He also never forgot who he would be without Christ. It seemed to be his driving force and was his motivator to live for God, more than anything else. He was someone totally different, totally remade, and anew. It impacted Paul's life so much that he could not stop mentioning the grace of God. He wrote about grace, he witnessed grace, and he lived grace; not as if it were only a gift, but as a person, and it was personal. He said in verse 10, “But by the grace of God I am what I am.” Notice he did not say I am what I was, but “what I am;” He was an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ. Nothing more, nothing less. He was what he was only because of the grace of God.
Never underestimate the grace of God, and never take it in vain. Paul said he labored more than any because of the grace of God that was in him.
