Good morning with a word for the day-
Habakkuk 2:3 says, ‘Though it tarries.’
The older I get and farther I go there's one thing I know about myself and that is I am not a patient man. ‘Hurry up and wait’ is not in my daily plans. I need things done and will go about getting those things done with all that I am. Why should I wait, what's the purpose of waiting, why not get it done now? This is my normal speed and attitude. I also expect others to be the same and as you may know that causes problems. I have to remind myself constantly that God is in control.
Over the years I've seen God answer prayers before I could finish them. Others took years, and some I am not sure He even heard. But God told Habakkuk ‘Though it tarries, wait for it.’ Tarry means to wait, but not just wait, but to wait in a certain way, or a certain place. Jesus told His disciples to tarry in the upper room in Jerusalem. It's not the waiting God is interested in it's the position, or place, and the frame of mind of the waiting. Sometimes, you’re not ready for what you’re asking for, it's not what God wants for you, or He has something better. Sometimes, He is training you where you are to be better at what He is going to give you and do with you. It could be what you’re believing and praying for will destroy what God has already done. Maybe, you will never be able to handle what you’re asking for. All of these things and more could be a possibility. Rest assured, if God told you He was going to do something or give you something it will come about when you’re ready for it and not before. Habakkuk 2:3 goes on to say, ‘Because it will surely come,’ meaning when the time gets here and all is right in the sight of God it will come about.
Habakkuk 2 says, ‘It will not tarry.’ Just be all you can be where God has you and trust Him for the rest.
Waiting is hard to do, but with God, it's always profitable. Ephesians 3:20
